On 4th January 2019, AES-VCM handed over 14 sets of desk-top computers with the total value of VND180 million to leaders of Mong Duong ward, Cam Pha city where Company’s Power Plant is located. These computers will be assigned to all community centers of the ward to help them stay connected on internet and information sharing network.
Mong Duong is the largest ward in Cam Pha city with the population of more than 16,000 people (2018) spreading in 120km2 mountainous area. Following the vision of Quang Ninh leaders to gradually transform Cam Pha to a smart city by 2020, the local authorities have called for support from business sector to invest in infrastructures and landscape as well as establishing public internet system to help connecting all residence no matter how far they live. Another objective is to improve the efficiency of public service at all levels that would then contribute to the socio-economic development of the city.
Participating in the ceremony on behalf of AES-VCM, Stan Riner, Power Block Operations Manager, shared his opinion: ‘We have established a very close relationship with the local government and we wish this relationship will be tighter in the future. The supports we receive from Mong Duong People’s Committee and local people have been very valuable. AES strives to be a good member of the community we operate and will always do our best for the development of this community.” On behalf of from Mong Duong authorities Mr. Lu highly appreciate the support from AES and said these computers would help to ensure local people won’t be left behind in this digital age. From making a CV, applying for a job, learning a skill or doing businesses to improve their livings. We hope that simple things like internet connected computers can provide people with more valuable resources to make their lives better.
Over the past years, Mong Duong ward has received continuous support from AES-VCM in the fields of infrastructure development, education, health, environment includingtraffic safetytraining , sanitation & first aid training, guidance on safe use of electric equipment and other practical activities relating to the residents’ livelihoods.
